Home Town Highlight: Seattle

Updated: Jun 25, 2019

The Pacific Northwest is an amazing wonderland of beauty and joy, filled with amazing food, craft beers, beaches, evergreen forests, mountains and open minded people …….

Just, no matter what, don’t let anyone else know haha

Because, seriously, it’s getting really crowded.

😅

Now, while I have lived in the PNW for my entire life, I have not actually explored much of it. I have always been preoccupied with far away destinations and since finding a way to begin traveling my life has become compartmentalized into being really ‘out’ in the world and being ‘in’ my own bubble in the house doing school work and watching TV 🤷‍♀️

In part, this has been due to the fact that driving from Tacoma to Seattle can be an incredibly painful experience…while another factor just might be laziness

However, recently this has started to change as I have been meeting more and more people who live in and enjoy Seattle.

This has motivated me, by the fact that I don't want to be totally alone, to actually find out what is available in the area I live so I can actually show people around when they come to visit and, surprisingly, there is a ton of great stuff to do here! So, I thought I would share the fruit of my efforts with you and I hope you enjoy the following list of fun things to do and amazing places to stuff your face 😜

Enjoy

“Living in Seattle is like being in love with a beautiful woman…. who is sick all the time”

The Space Needle may be one of the special and unique sites in Seattle, but it isn’t the only place with a great view. Nor is it the tallest building in the city anymore…by a long shot. At 933 ft tall, the Columbia Tower has 76 floors and stands just a bit higher than the Needle at 605 ft tall. The last time I was at the Needle I was 7 haha This weekend I plan to check out both to get the full experience.

Pike’s Place is one of my favorites in Seattle. The mix of amazing food and cute shops with unique handmade items it’s too good to resist.

Be mindful though, it is easy to get turned around in the winding alleyways and levels. Also, be sure to look into your options for food. Too many times I have gone to the first amazing place I come across and then find out there were 10 more amazing places! Not really a terrible problem, just sayin 😉

A fun part of town that always makes me think “yeah, I am in Seattle” haha in a really good way 🙂 Lots of bars and great nightlife here as well as delicious food.

This is also the heart of the gay community in Seattle. With it being pride month, this is the place to be and has some of the best people watching Ive ever had the joy to experience.

This is truly a blast. It's ones of those tours that always has the most entertaining guides that really amp up the fun and make the experience so great.

I'll never forget when I went and I (like a true newbie) raised my hand when he asked "Is anyone here from Tacoma". He then proceeded to take no mercy on me 😂 To be fair though, there were some pretty hilarious jabs.

This tour also highlights some pretty cool Seattle history too, in a really fun way. You will be walking under the sidewalks of present day downtown streets, be prepared to see a creepy crawly or two. There are some great ghost tours available if you want to spice things up with a dash of fear

This is a fun part of town where there is great food and shopping but also the beach! And, most importantly of all, great views of Seattle from said beach.

Of course now, this is a Washington beach, so be prepared. Not everyone is as lucky as I am to have grown up going to Washington beaches dressed head to toe in winter clothes..... But if you wish really hard, and have some luck, you will get a nice day to really see the beauty of the PNW

Very fancy, eleganza realness henny..

definitely plan to drop some 💰💰💰

Of course, everything here is so beautiful it makes you want to sell your soul to make this your life forever 😈 So be sure to be fresh off payday or with someone who really wants to treat you like a kween.

Be sure to enjoy the delicious restaurants here too including the best soup dumplings ever from Din Tai Fung

One of the coolest things to do in Seattle.

Totally worth the entrance fee.

You not only get to see the whole museum but this amazing garden as well that sits in view of the Space Needle.

You can also catch a live glass blowing demonstration most days, which is extra special!

This place is freakin sweet.

It’s a Japanese Karaoke club in Capitol Hill that has 11 private rooms you can rent to have a private karaoke party with just you and your friends! They also have public karaoke in the lobby in you are feeling outgoing and sociable.

So much yes 😍

I this is pretty much the most iconic Seattle thing you can do.

This is because, especially on a beautiful day, you can revel in the glory that is the mountains, the trees, and the water.

Not only this, but it feels like you are flying among it all as you cruise along the water. One of my favorite places to go is Bremerton, which is small but has a few gems and some great views.

Happy Educated Travels!
