Resource Realness: Affordable Airfare

One of the most vital parts of creating an affordable trip is traversing the unsteady ground that is finding the best airfare.

This can be challenging, mostly because it is hard to know when it is right to make the move and finally go in on a deal. It takes a lot of checking and comparing different configurations of searches on different sites etc.

However, in this day of technology, it is becoming easier to manage. Through resources like this, and my own personal experience, I think I have gathered a pretty good list of tools to refer to when embarking on a new adventure!

Enjoy ;P

General Tips and Info:

The best time to book an international flight is four to six months before you fly.

For domestic tickets, it’s between one to two months.

Fly during off-times. These include flying between 5-7am or after 8pm, but also on days when people don’t traditionally travel. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays are typically the best days for cheaper fares.

Another good way to save money is by mixing and matching individual one way flights! This can end up saving a lot of money, but takes the extra time to check round trip tickets versus one ways.

I also have the option of leaving from two different airports, both Seattle and Portland, so I will take the extra time to also check flights leaving from each.

Also, it can give you an extra edge to clear the cookies off your browser before searching for airfare.
