-Walk Through The Park

Spend a little and get some food and wine, have a picnic!

Useful if traveling alone, and also have an online program. But, also applies to people traveling for work and anyone who wants to take time to write or read or keep a blog etc

-Free Entry Days At Museums

Usually museums will have one free entrance day per month, look up where you want to visit ahead of time and see if you can arrange your schedule to coincide with this

-Window Shop

The issue with this one is you actually need to have a considerably amount of will power not to actually buy the things you look at

-Lay On The Beach

Get a tan, enjoy the sound of the waves, and explore the shoreline

-Cultural Sites

Often times many cultural and historic sites will be free. A simple search of the area prior to arriving will tell you what sites you can add to your free list

-Wandering Around Town

Being in a new place I find it interesting and fun to just spend time walking around and taking in the area. Seeing the buildings and people, going wherever you are drawn to without a specific intent on arriving to any specific place. I have found the most wonderful surprises this way and they are some of the memories I treasure the most

-Walking Tours

While not every one will be free, there are many that are, and taking part in events like this provide a lot of deeper information that helps you really get to know the places you are experiencing

-Go To A Market

It is always nice to meander along the bustling streets of a market. Maybe you might be tempted to splurge a few dollars on some fresh fruit or local pastries and then you begin to enjoy it even more. I love doing this because I think it’s a place where you can find some of the most unique things to get as souvenirs and gifts and also gives you a nice connection to the local community and the people. Also, there is usually some of the greatest food, I always break down and get something.. but usually I can also find some great things for some really great prices

-Brewery / Chocolate / Cheese factory Tour

These are fun things to do and usually you end up with a taste of the experience as well. Plus, it is always eye opening to see how things are made .. especially when its things you love and regularly enjoy!

-Hiking

Enjoying the natural areas surrounding you is a free and healthy thing to do. You can really get into the differences in the plants and animals and enjoy great views that give you a new perspective of the place you are visiting
