Next Time: Vienna

In the last week of October this year I was fortunate enough to step foot in Vienna on my way back home to the states and spend about 24 hours seeing the city.
This was a last minute addition I really had to make because when I originally looked at return tickets from Santorini in Greece the price was about $2500!
So, I got crafty (again) and booked a one way fight to Vienna for about $100, then a one way flight to Amsterdam for another $130 and then a one way ticket home for about $500.
Much better! And even some extra destinations along the way :p
So, feeling proud of myself at this airline wizerdry, I was thrilled to be there and get to spend a little but longer in this dream world of fantasy I had created haha
Being there only a day, there is far more I didn’t see then anything and from what I did see, I am set on going back and seeing the rest!
What follows is the list I have started of these things, at least those I know about already, and some of the great things I have to do again.
Enjoy 🙂
Eat & Drink:
-Go to a Viennese coffee house, get a Melange with sachetorte, which is the topical dessert
-Get a warm Apple strudel & coffee (do it again!)
-Go to Cafe zentral -Get a kasekrainer on the wurstelstand or sausage stand (Do it again! One of my very favorite things)
-Get dinner at a traditional Viennese restaurant and try a schnitzel with potato salad. Figlmüller is a good one.
-Try Ulrich for a more trendy place for dinner. It may look a little far but it is really walking distance from the center.
-End the night with a drink at Dachboden at the top of the 25 hours hotel
To Do: -Walk around the first district, which is the center surrounded by ‘the ring’.
-See the park in front of hofburg palace and stephanplatz.
-Check out the gardens at Belvedere palace
-Go inside the State Opera building
-Walk down the shopping streets near the state opera (Do it again! Go earlier than 6pm to actually go in some of the stores)
-MuseumsQuartier Wien – has egyptian collection From $22 https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g190454-d246439-Reviews-MuseumsQuartier_Wien-Vienna.html
-Michaelerplatz
-Hop on hop off bus with entry to over 60 places $85 (Do it again!) https://www.tripadvisor.com/AttractionProductDetail?product=3585PASS&d=194137&aidSuffix=tvrm&partner=Viator
-See the beautiful church Dominikanerkirche https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g190454-d3165396-Reviews-Dominikanerkirche-Vienna.html
-Badeschiff: a canal boat club with a swimming pool on the upper deck. Badeschiff, Donaukanal, Vienna, Austria, +43 660 3124703
-Porgy & Bess Jazz Club Vienna doesn’t just do classical music, so if you’re looking for something with a bit more swing and cabaret character look no further than Porgy & Bess. It may take some time to find, hidden in the little city alleyways, but once discovered it’s sure to be a favorite. Immerse yourself in the hazy, alternative music scene evocative of the prohibition era and join a buzzing crowd to party the night away.
