Upcoming Adventures: Monterey, Ca

Tomorrow, I leave for California once again to start the next semester of school.

To put the ‘hybrid’ in the hybrid program I am a part of, I go down to California twice a year to attend a Regional Conference where I get to touch base with faculty and other students. Up until now, this has taken place at the Westin in San Francisco. This year, however, is the first it will be taking place an hour or so south in Monterey.

Usually, this week is filled with not only productivity and attending seminars but also goin hard with friends out of the town…which usually entails eating a lot of food haha. San Francisco has obviously been a great place, filled with endless things to do, but this time is exciting in a new way because we will have a fresh start and a whole new city to explore!

What follows is a list of some of the things I have already found to do and I am excited about trying out for myself!

Enjoy 😉

Things To Do

While I have been on this stretch before, it is one of my favorite areas in California and I will always have this on my list for when I visit. One thing I have yet to experience however is taking my time and stopping on one of the little beach areas they have along the road. This trip, I plan to achieve this. Take some tequila, play some music, take a picnic and watch the fog burn off and the waves come in.

From San Fran to Monterey I love checking out the hustle and bustle of the Wharf, not to mention all of the delicious seafood you can find in a place like this. While I have walking through this area before on some previous visits, it has always been brief and I am hoping to take my time this visit.

Walking tours and the like are things I have never really taken advantage of before but I am starting to see the interest nowadays. Its great to get to know the place you are wandering through on a deeper level, these kind of things can be especially great when there are fun and outgoing hosts that really help you get into it. Ive always known Cannery Row was there but not really anything else about it haha Maybe this trip I will find out.

This one is top of my list. I used to visit the butterfly room at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle but and I always loved it but I haven’t been in years and I have never been to another one. I’m looking forward to seeing what this one is all about and to frolic with some butterflies 😀

This is my favorite park in California. In the times I have visited I still haven’t come close to seeing it all. There are great trails here, wildlife, and amazing views. I hope to spend some good time here again this time around.

I must have drive by this beach a hundred times and drooled over it each time. Yet, always on my way somewhere, I have never actually stopped here. This time I plan to bring a blanket, some food, some booze and spend some hours just being here watching the waves and feeling the sand. It just feels like the perfect place for that.

This stop would be a new one for me, and I think it would be amazing especially on a nice day because of the great views it looks like place has of the coastline. Maybe get some good hiking in while Im there!

California is always a good idea
